  • Geert Meyfroidt, MD, PhD

    Geert Meyfroidt MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) and Consultant Intensivist at the University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium. He is funded by the Flemish Government as Senior Clinical Investigator and has project funding from the Flemish Government and the KU Leuven.

    Current research projects include: data mining and predictive modeling in neuro-intensive care and acute kidney injury; cerebrovascular autoregulation; ketamine in brain injured patients; nutrition and blood glucose control. He is promotor of 5 PhD students, has authored and co-authored more than 80 medical journal articles and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.

    Professor Meyfroidt was elected country representative for Belgium at the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM)(2012-2015), is now active in the Neuro-Intensive Care section of ESICM, the Scientific Panel of the European Academy of Neurology, and is president-elect of the Belgian Society of Intensive Care Medicine. In 2016, he received the Established Investigator Award from the ESICM.
